Our group grew out of joint research interests on consciousness and the self and the IFL funded collaborative project The Cognitive Foundations of the Self. The relationship between the self and consciousness remains an important focus of group activities. Ongoing research which was initiated in this project includes the Sarsaw webtool.
However our interests in consciousness are wide including such other questions as the nature of perceptual consciousness, altered states of consciousness, the role of the body in consciousness, criteria for attributing consciousness phenomenology and machine consciousness.
Some major foci are
Self and Self-Consciousness
Altered States of Self
Artificial Consciousness
Recent Activities
Self and the Social, 6th and 7th March, 2014
Neurophilosophy, Self and Brain Workshop, 17th and 18th February, 2014
Theories of Self, 24th October, 2013
Altered Self and Altered Self-Experience Workshop 30th and the 31st of May of 2013
Workshop with Shaun Gallagher March 1 - 2, 2012
Future Activities
Ongoing activities are centered around developing a new project around self, mental illness and schizophrenia.
